– Yogi Bhajan

Good health is an important foundation for every man who wants to live a healthy and happy life. It is something you cannot buy for any amount of money yet there are many resources available today, more than ever, to greatly improve health.

Below are some of the best herbs and remedies for men’s health.

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba is one of the oldest tree species on our planet. Some resources date it to 300 million years old! It has been widely used in Asia as a wonderful remedy for improving memory and concentration. Some studies show that ginkgo extract can significantly improve long-distance vision and even reverse damage to the retina of the eye. Ginkgo has been successfully used for treating depression in elderly people. Besides that ginkgo can also provide relief for those who suffer from headaches, sinusitis, and vertigo.

It is available in most health food stores in extracts, tinctures and teas.

Pumpkin Seed

Pumpkin seeds contain a range of nutrients that have been positively linked to prostate health, such as zinc, potassium, and iron. Research shows that these nutrients together with pumpkin seeds’ antioxidant action offer incredible support for the prostate. Pumpkin seed extract encourages normal urine flow in men with enlarged prostate. Besides, it is a powerful aphrodisiac.

These seeds are delicious raw or toasted.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is a potent medicine and has been used for centuries in India and China to treat arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, improve digestion, maintain a healthy metabolism, increase libido and male potency, cure skin problems (wounds, rashes and boils), treat sore throat, and cure acid reflux. Fenugreek also has a long history of use for the treatment of reproductive problems. Recent research found that Fenugreek helps lower blood glucose and cholestrol levels, and may be an effective treatment for both type 1 and 2 diabetes. Other studies suggest it for its cardiovascular benefits.

I recommend to soak them for 24 hours to activate all nutrients in the seed. Then cook over low heat for about 10 minutes and eat with honey. It tastes a bit bitter.

Maca Root

Maca root  has a lot of health benefits. The medicinal use of this plant goes back to Incan civilization.

Maca root health benefits include: enhancing energy and stamina, increasing sexual desire and endurance, helping with infertility, aiding acne treatment, improving memory, reducing menopause symptoms, especially hot flashes and fatigue, relieving mild depression, boost energy.

Maca root comes in powder and capsules. Suggested dosage is 1 tablespoon a day.

Rhodiola

Rhodiola Rosea is another wonderful medicinal herb.

Its health benefits include: strengthening the nervous system, fighting depression, enhancing immune system, increasing endurance, enhancing memory, aiding in weight reduction, improving sexual function, helping with heart issues, regulating blood sugar levels, promoting longevity, protecting the liver from environmental toxins, improving hearing, and raising energy levels. It has long been known as a powerful adaptogen. Adaptogens are substances that increase the body’s overall performance by boosting your energy or helping to relax and soothe.

In Asia they make tea brewed from Rhodiola rosea and consider it to be the most effective remedy for cold and flu. In Mongolia it is prescribed for tuberculosis and cancer.

Throughout many years it has shown to significantly improve erectile dysfunction and/or premature ejaculation in men and balance their prostatic fluid.

Damiana

Damiana leaves have been used as an aphrodisiac since Mayan times. This fragrant herb is known to boost sexual potency. Native peoples of Mexico also used it for both male and female sexual stimulation, increased energy, asthma, depression, and impotence.

Damiana has been used for centuries to heal anxiety,  mild depression,  and nervousness especially if these symptoms have a sexual foundation.

This potent herb has also been used traditionally to aid digestion and to relieve constipation, as in larger doses it is thought to have a mild laxative effect.

It can work very fast to stimulate the genital area by essentially enriching the oxygen supply. Long term use can significantly improve sexual fitness and performance.

Muira Pauma

Muira Pauma is often called “the Viagra of the Amazon” for a reason.

Amazonians have been using it for centuries as a powerful “love tonic” for both men and women. One of the recent studies by UCLA showed a significant improvement in both erectile function and sexual drive.

Muira Puama is capable to increase blood flow to the pelvic area, aiding erections in men as well as maximizing sensation and orgasm in women. Long term use can enhance the production of sex hormones in both sexes. It has no known side effects. However as with many sexual stimulants, it can slightly raise blood pressure.
