Calcium and Magnesium

Female body needs to have a good balance of calcium and magnesium, it is vital. These two elements will calm and nourish your immune system,  give you lots of energy and greatly improve your sleep. For this reason I highly recommend “CALM” which is a water soluble powder and can be found in most health food stores.

Evening Primrose Oil

Evening primrose oil is a fabulous resource for women’s health as it contains a high concentration of a fatty acid called GLA and it is this fatty acid that is responsible for amazing healing properties of this plant. As a matter of fact, evening primrose contains one of the highest concentrations known of this valuable substance and only a few other plants contain it at all. This makes it a valuable medicinal herb. The gamma-linoleic acid, linoleic acid and other nutrients in this oil are essential for cell structure and improve the elasticity of the skin. These important fatty acids  help to regulate hormones and improve nerve function aiding problems ranging from PMS to migraine headaches. The hormone balancing effect is essential for a healthy breast tissue.

Evening primrose oil may help to relieve the symptoms of PMS, menopause, menstruation, endometriosis, and fibrocystic breasts. For more information about it go to: http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-evening-primrose.html

Tamanu / Kamani Oil

Kamani oil is extracted from a nut of kamani tree that grows in tropical part of the Pacific.  It is called “tamanu” in the South Pacific or “kamani” in Hawaii. Polinesians knew about its healing properties and extensively used it to cure all skin conditions. Today a lot of experts say that tamanu oil can be one of the most effective skin curing agents available on the market. They say it heals and helps regenerate 4 epidermis of skin, promoting formation of new skin cells and tissue which helps grow new healthy skin and aids in the process of healing skin abrasions and scar tissues. In addition to its regenerative powers, kamani oil is a powerful antioxidant  and is a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent.

Here are some of the benefits of tamanu oil:

  • Healing skin abrasions, cuts, blisters, and blemishes
  • Preventing and healing wrinkles and other skin marks
  • Help for dry skin, Eczema, and a number of skin conditions
  • Healing for sun burns, chemical burns, insect bites, and stings

I personally use it extensively and was amazed that when it was applied on a burn right away — there was no blister and no burn mark left on my skin after a fast healing. It is one of my favorites and I highly recommend to have it in your first aid kit!

Moringa Oleifera

Moringa oleifera is another wonderful resource of nature that is said to be able to treat over 300 diseases and health conditions. Africans highly revered this tree and called it “never die” or “miracle tree”.

Moringa oleifera contains a rare combination of zeatin (a potent antioxidant), quercetin (a flavonoid known for its ability to neutralize free radicals and relieve inflammation), caffeoylquinic acid (another powerful anti-inflammatory compound), beta-sitosterol (a nutrient superstar that blocks cholesterol formation or build-up and is an anti-inflammatory agent for the body),  and kaempferol (an important nutrient that promotes healthy cellular function).

Interestingly, moringa oleifera provides 36 natural anti-inflammatory agents and contains 46 different antioxidants.

According to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s website, “In vitro and animal studies indicate that the leaf, seed, and root extracts of Moringa Oleifera have anticancer, hepatoprotective, hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral effects. They may also protect against Alzheimer’s disease, stomach ulcers, help lower cholesterol levels, and promote wound healing. It is a powerful detoxifying agent and a great boost for the immune system.
The leaves of this amazing tree contain 7 times the vitamin C found in oranges, 4 times the calcium in milk, 4 times the vitamin A in carrots, 2 times the protein of yogurt, 25 times the iron in spinach, and 3 times the potassium in bananas.

The leaves of Moringa Oleifera are available as a powder supplement on the market as well as tinctures and oil.
The oil has no smell nor taste and is safe to use for dental inflammations and to heal injuries. I personally used it on my daughter when she had a teeth injury and I could not believe how fast it all healed.

Wild Yam

Wild yam is another powerhouse for women’s health. It is known for its hormone balancing ability. Wild  Yam contains plant hormone precursors which help in the production and balancing of progesterone and estrogen.
It is widely used in treating menstrual cramps  as it is a very good antispasmodic. Wild yam can be of great help for relaxing muscles, soothing nerves, relieving pain, poor circulation and neuralgia, for the inflammatory stage of rheumatoid arthritis and for abdominal and intestinal cramping.

Wild yam is known as a stimulant that increases bile flow,  helping to relieve hepatic congestion, bilious colic and even gallstones.

It is a great resource for overall liver health and a potent anti-inflammatory agent, which makes it a useful herb when treating rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory conditions of the bowel . The diuretic effect of wild yam, in combination with the antispasmodic action, soothes painful conditions of the urinary tract. Research shows that wild yam root’s ability to lower blood cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure indirectly helps the liver to increase its efficiency and reduce stress.

One of the best ways to use it is tinctures: by itself or in combination with other herbs like Female Balance Herbal Extract by EnerHealth.

In Asia they make tea brewed from Rhodiola rosea and consider it to be the most effective remedy for cold and flu. In Mongolia it is prescribed for tuberculosis and cancer.

Oregano Oil

Some people call it a medicinal powerhouse for its wide spectrum of health benefits.

Even USDA admits that oregano oil has such a strong action against germs that it could easily fight Salmonella and E. coli. This makes it a great thing to have when dining out. Oregano oil is literally loaded with vital nutrients like magnesium and zinc and vitamins C and E. It is pretty high in iron, calcium, potassium, copper, manganese, and niacin. Oregano oil is also known for antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

Other benefits of oregano oil include: weight loss, immune booster, alleviates sinus infection and colds, helps with yeast and parasitic and urinary tract infections, kills staphylococcus and makes a perfect natural insect repellent.

Some recent studies show that oregano was the most powerful of four essential oils (sage, ginseng, and stevia) at killing all six different cancer types, including cervical, breast, leukemia, lung, and colon cancer.  Scientists were surprised to discover that oregano almost completely depletes cancer cells of their glutathione which is an important antioxidant they need to survive. Without this antioxidant cancer cells become highly vulnerable to oxidation and die very fast.

Red Raspberry Leaf

Raspberry leaf tea is a great aid during pregnancy as it alleviates nausea and improves sleep. But besides this it is extremely beneficial for female reproductive system helping to balance hormones, strengthen the walls of uterus and pelvic muscles.  Raspberry leaf tincture is also a wonderful remedy for the gums and can help fight and prevent the symptoms of gingivitis or gum diseases.
Tea made from red raspberry leaves tastes very similar to black tea but more subtle and is very enjoyable hot or iced.
It is very high in Vitamin C which makes it great for treating flu and colds or even to make an energy drink.

I used it during and after pregnancy but I’d definitely consult a midwife or doctor before taking any herb while pregnant.

Serrapeptase

Serrapeptase is another gem that I recently came across.  It is a proteolytic enzyme derived from a Japanese silkworm and has been used in Europe and Asia for over 30 years. It has the ability to dissolve non-living tissue in the body. You will be amazed to see a wide spectrum of benefits that this potent medicine offers: it literally cleans out arteries, normalizing heart and circulatory function; helps with atherosclerosis, chronic ear, nose and throat infections, chronic redness, and reduces swelling. Many women will find it invaluable for it helps with cystic breast disease and uterine fibroids.

Serrapeptase is used therapeutically in Europe for nerve damage, Multiple Sclerosis, hay fever, rhinitis, lung congestion, diabetes, swollen glands, ulcers, laryngitis,  chronic pain, arthritis, back and neck pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, prostate problems,  sports injuries, surgery scars, varicose veins, arterial diseases, blood clots, even anti-aging.

Longan

Longan is indigenous to China and is cultivated throughout Asia and even Polynesia. This sweet fruit that is a relative of lychee and is harvested around the same time.

Health benefits of longan fruit include: a great blood tonic, increases energy levels, aids heart health, a wonderful sex tonic for women, improves skin complexion, decreases cataract development, improves eye sight, and great for insomnia.  In Asia longans are suggested as anti-depressants because they have a calming effect on the central nervous system, and can improve nerve function, reduce irritability and lower exhaustion.
